Photographic Icons: Fact, Fiction, or Metaphor?
This section of the booked talked about photography and their validity and applications. For example, some photos are taken by photojournalist to document where some tabloid photographers will produce strictly edited work that is far from raw or the truth. On the other hand, there is photographs that are intended to metaphorically represent a concept or an idea. I personally like all types of photography. We need to be able to create or own perception of the world and if everyone created hyper real photos, there would be no variety.
The Photo That Never Was
This section is about a photographer who takes pictures and basically makes one single mash-up photo of all the images to created a more interesting composition. This idea of composing a single photo of multiple photos would fall under the fictions category obviously but I think it is such a cool idea. It is original, interesting, and the possibilities are endless when making compositions.
As Unpretty as a picture
This section is about an artist who takes the previous section's artist to the next level. This individual would create the same multi-photo compositions but then would paint the composition to create something that is very fascinating. This painting that is created is almost more real or fooling than the photo composition it is easier to hide and make something more seamless.
Moments in Time, Yet Somehow in Motion
This artist will take photos over time of the same objects to capture time and distress that has occurred to these subjects. The photos will then be grouped and installed in a lineage fashion. By doing this, the artist creates a timeline of a specific spot. This photo journalistic approach to photography shows the viewer a very cool piece that shows deterioration and the human impact on our planet.
Robert Polidori, In the Studio
This artist is known for his over-saturated photos of architecture and geometry. I really liked this artist's view on how a room has life and it is comparable to a person. I also liked his interest in architecture. I think that architecture offers a lot for photographers in the means of composition and evenness.
A Young Man with an Eye, and Friends Up a Tree
This photographer spoke to me the most because he does travel and fast paced photography which is what interests me the most! I like when photos are taken of an image and they are all candid and they don't seen posed and like a photographer was there.
